KYC uses a number of specific terms and words throughout the platform and documentation, so it’s important to know what we mean when we use these words, even if some are industry standard or might be obvious.

Term List

  • Brand - The top-level hotel brand name, which can refer to the general brand, e.g. all properties within a brand or brand-wide data, and also the actual URL slug, e.g. GreatHotels.kych.co
  • Property - Individual hotel property. Note that some hotels have multiple properties, such as for the hotel vs. on-site homes.
  • Guest - A hotel guest. Note each reservation and room links to a SINGLE guest. Guests are BRAND-WIDE, i.e. shared among all properties.
  • Guest Preferences - Guest preferences, based on a set of templates. These are BRAND-WIDE.
  • Reservation - A hotel reservation, usually created via a PMS interface and following typical statuses like reserved, checked-in, etc.
  • Guest Comm - The KYC Guest Communications platform, supporting SMS and WhatsApp. Consists of threads and messages.
  • Guest App - The KYC Guest-facing “app” which is actually a web application the Guest can access, for things like hotel info, IRD, and requests.
  • Team Member - Hotel employee.
